Better Alliance System
Here are some things that I think should change about the alliance system.
First of all, in the alliance window, it shows the guilds' K/L faction but for some reason it doesnt show their rank. Is this to keep the noob rank 3000+ guilds from bein kicked out of the alliance or what?
Second, why the hell is the alliance chat only available for leader/officers???
If a member is spammin in the alliance chat or somethin, the leader or an officer can always kick em. If it does cause problems then make a seperate ally chat for only leader/officers or have the option for people to filter out messages.
This last thing is mainly my opinion but methinks 10 guilds in an alliance is too much. Imo they should lower max to 6 or 7. Thank god they even put a maximum cuz if they didnt, i would burn something.

Do a scrimmage in their guild hall, look at their rank then kick them.

I think alliance chat is fine the way it is. A means for officers of the alliance guilds to communicate. Nothing more, nothing less. If you want to chat with others set up a meeting in town or one of the guild halls and shoot the bull as long as you please.
Why is 10 too many? Sounds like a nice round number. Many alliances have a hard time getting 10.
Finally .... it's not just the last thing .... it is all mainly opinion.

Ok, so u might know the guild's rank when u invite em but rank should still show so u can monitor it.
Alliance chat is fine for u cuz ur the leader of ur guild, but what if maybe a member wants to get an HA group going or something and ur guild's leader/ officers are either offline or afk, u'd have to add ppl from the other guilds in ur alliance to the friends list and start PM'ing them. Can u tell me why its better that only leader/officers can use alliance chat rather than every1?
The game is called Guild Wars not Alliance Wars so thats y i think 10 is too many.

Even though you could kick the people spamming, there will be "overall" spamming...imagine around 100 people communicating over alliance chat. Besides there's usually one person talking on AC so just PM them if you want a message on AC...

The game is called Guild Wars becuase of the history of Tyria, but the actual guild wars ended when the Charr invaded. It's the history, and not the way you have to play the game. Otherwise there would be nothing but GvG battles.
Why I prefer keeping alliance chat to officers is even with just the officers there is an excessive amount of useless chatter on the alliance chat. With everyone being able to chat it would be worse than having local chat on in LA dist 1. If your alliance is at all organized you should have an alliance web site where events can be planned and visible to all. And most fair size guilds manage to have an officer online during peak playing times.
Perhaps we could have two alliance channels. One for just the officers and one for all members. (Alliance Chat and Free for All Chat?)
BTW: I have two accounts and my second one is just a guild member (not officer). I have no trouble finding an officer online to communicate with alliance without having to change accounts.

I tihnk you should stop complaining here and go complain to your guild leader to make you an officer.

bumping old thread...
That alliance chat thing is really frustating, reading a converstation going on between friends and not being able to give your 2 cents is kinda dumb.
Both the officers and members in my alliance feel this way. I think the leader should have an checkbox in the alliance window: 'allow members to talk in alliance chat'.

The "only officers/leader can talk" thing is pretty dumb, so I circumvented it by promoting everyone to officer.
Edit: Still agree that it should be changed, in case that was unclear.
